Director Zou Tongqian was awarded the Uzbekistan badge of "Tourism Devotee"

On October 13, 2020, an award ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel in Tashkent, granting the “Tourism Devotee” badge to Director Zou Tongqian in recognition of his contribution to the development of tourism in Uzbekistan. The leaders of the National Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan attended the award ceremony. The recipient of the award, honorary guests, representatives of ministries, departments and local media attended the ceremony. The event was announced by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Tourism Development Council.

“Tourism Devotee” badge

In recent years, the President’s signed several decrees and resolutions to accelerate the development of tourism in Uzbekistan, and therefore tourism has been regarded as one of the strategic areas in promoting the economy. At the same time, a lot of work has been done in the development of tourism in our region. The emergence and granting of the badge “Tourism Fidoyisi” is a precious gift to the 29th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. “I hope this badge will invite citizens of our Republic and compatriots living abroad to show the world the rich history and culture of our motherland,” said Aziz Abdukakimov.

Professor Zou Tongqian, assistant to the director of BISU and director of China Academy of Culture and Tourism, won the award for his contribution to the joint construction of the “Silk Road” International Tourism University. As the principal advisor of “Silk Road” International Tourism University, Professor Zou Tongqian has made major contribution to the following areas: guiding the formulation of strategic plans for the university, assisting in organizing foreign teachers, promoting scientific research cooperation, boosting international exchanges between teachers and students, helping with UNWTO=TedQual certification, teaching undergraduates, postgraduates, and distance education projects, organizing nationwide talent training programmes for the Chinese tourism market, coordinating Chinese tourism education resources to assist the construction of the Silk Road International Tourism University, helping to organize the China-Uzbekistan Culture and Tourism Network Forum held by the United Nations South-South Cooperation Organization, and assisting Uzbekistan in opening up the Chinese tourism market.

Aziz Abdukakimov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Tourism Development Council awarded the prize in person.
