The opening report meeting of the Major Project of the National Social Science Fund: Research and Interpretation of the Spirit of the 20 National Congress of the CPC (Research on the Deep Integration of Culture and Tourism in the Process of Chinese Modernization) (2023-2026), chaired by Professor Jiang Jinbo of South China University of Technology, was held on the morning of August 4, 2023.

Professor Zou Tongqian, Assistant President of Beijing International Studies University, Dean of China Academy of Culture and Tourism and Vice President of Silk Road University, attended the opening report meeting, sorted out the context of major research projects on cultural and tourism integration in China in recent years, explained the bottleneck of the current cultural and tourism integration, and pointed out that the current domestic research on cultural and tourism integration lacks theoretical innovation. However, the research team generally lacks the basic knowledge of industrial economics and enterprise theory, lacks in-depth analysis of the theoretical mechanism of the integration of culture and tourism, lacks in-depth research on the market mechanism of the integration of culture and tourism, and makes the theory lead other than practice. It is necessary to focus on the roles and functions of the three main subjects of the integration of culture and tourism, the roles and functions of enterprises, government and communities in cultural and tourism integration, summarize the successful experience of Chinese and foreign cultural and tourism integration, condense the conceptual theory of the mechanism and path of cultural and tourism integration, and then form the Chinese theory of cultural and tourism integration.

Experts and scholars from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Sun Yat-sen University, Beijing Union University and other universities also attended the opening meeting.
